Apr-20-2007 09:53NBA: Kemp, Sessions to Explore NBA Draft OptionsSalem-News.com SPORTSBy not hiring agents, they have the option to withdraw from the draft and return for their senior seasons at the University of Nevada.
RENO, Nev. - Nevada junior guards Marcelus Kemp and Ramon Sessions will make them themselves available for the 2007 National Basketball Association Draft selection process but will not hire agents, Wolf Pack head coach Mark Fox announced Thursday. Both Kemp and Sessions have filed early-entry paperwork with the NBA, while the deadline for underclassmen to withdraw from draft consideration is Monday, June 18th. By not hiring agents, they have the option to withdraw from the draft and return for their senior seasons at the University of Nevada. “I am supportive of Marcelus’ and Ramon’s desire to explore the NBA and gain the information necessary to make educated decisions,” Fox said. Kemp earned first-team All-WAC honors this season after ranking third in the league in scoring at 18.5 points per game. He led the team in three-pointers made (84) and was fourth in the WAC in three-point percentage at 40.6 percent. He ranks fourth on the Nevada career list with 157 three-pointers made and 10th in career scoring with 1,280 points. Sessions was a second-team All-WAC selection and one of 17 finalists for the 2006-07 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award this year. He led the team in assists for the third consecutive season and ranked second in the WAC with 4.68 assists per game. He is second in the Wolf Pack record books with 478 career assists. This season, he also ranked third on the team and 14th in the WAC in scoring at 12.3 points per game. Both hope to be invited to the NBA Pre-Draft Camp on May 29th through June 4th in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., which is the first time underclassmen can have contact with NBA teams. After that date, underclassmen can work out for teams at their own expense in order to maintain their collegiate eligibility. The 2007 NBA Draft will be held on June 28th at Madison Square Garden in New York.
