CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State Volleyball team returned to action Thursday evening against the University of Portland at Gill Coliseum.

Kristin Murray led the Beavers to a four game sweep of the Pilots, 30-22, 30-19, 30-23, 15-11.

“This is meant for everybody to get a lot of playing time,” head coach Taras Liskevych said. “Getting back into a winning mode is a good thing for us.”

The Beavers never trailed in the match until the third game when the undermanned Pilots managed to cling to a lead at 16-15.

A pair of kills by Murray, who will be the Beavers’ lone senior in 2007, put OSU ahead to stay.

Murray, who leads nine returning letterwinners from the 2006 squad, tallied 16 kills while attacking at an efficiency rate of nearly .400 to lead the Orange and Black.

Lexie Rathgeber smashed 12 kills and Rachel Rourke and Bree Knitter added eight apiece.

Ashley Evans directed the offense with 39 assists. Evans and Natalie Hooper each notched 13 digs and Jennifer Fitz added 10.

Oregon State returns to action April at 10:30 AM at Western Oregon, where the Beavers will scrimmage against WOU, Portland State, Seattle Pacific and Seattle U.
