COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Jack Cust tallied his third multi-homer game of the season with a pair of solo shots, and Craig Stansberry had a season-high four hits and five RBIs to help the Portland Beavers snap a five-game road-losing streak with a 13-7 victory over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox Monday night at Security Service Field.

Vincent Sinisi and Brett Dowdy each added three hits, and Paul McAnulty had two hits and three RBIs for the Beavers (8-11), who logged 18 hits total, one shy of their season high.

Cust clubbed his seventh home run in the third and ran his league-leading total to eight with a two-out blast in the seventh to log his eighth multi-homer contest in two campaigns with the Beavers.

Cust, who was 3-for-4 with a double, 10 total bases and three runs scored, extended his hitting streak to 11 games in the process. After a slow start to the season, Cust is batting .487 (19-for-39) with 18 RBIs during his current hitting streak and has hit all eight of his home runs over his last 10 games.

Stansberry doubled twice and scored two runs for the Beavers, who tallied eight extra-base hits.

Jack Cassel (2-2) picked up his second win with his first relief appearance of the season. The Beavers’ Opening Day starter worked two scoreless innings in relief of starter Cesar Carrillo, who was limited to just one inning after a 63-minute rain delay forced his removal from the game for precautionary reasons.

Ryan Spilborghs hit a two-run homer and Edwin Bellorin hit a three-run clout in the five-run fourth to lead the Sky Sox (5-11). Sean Barker hit his third home run of the series, and Omar Quintanilla added three hits.

Starter Eric DuBose (0-1) surrendered eight runs (7 earned) on eight hits over 3 1/3 innings in the loss.

After the one-hour, three-minute rain delay interrupted the game after one inning of play, the Beavers opened an 8-0 lead with a flurry of offense over the next four frames.

Sinisi plated Cust with a double, and Stansberry drove in two more with the third double of the second inning. Cust’s solo home run off DuBose in the third made it 4-0, and the Beavers extended their lead with a four-run fourth; Stansberry had an RBI single, Dowdy a run-scoring double, and McAnulty a two-run double in the inning.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Sky Sox responded against reliever Steve Watkins with the home runs by Spilborghs and Bellorin, who had four hits in the series opener Saturday night.

Luke Carlin plated Sinisi with an RBI single to start another four-run outburst for Portland in the fifth. Stansberry later added a two-run double and scored on a one-out single to center from McAnulty.

The Beavers conclude their series with the Sky Sox Tuesday at 9:35 AM (Pacific).
