LEBANON - Bend Oregon's Rob Mayea won Saturday nights' season opening Outlaw Late Model feature race after taking the lead from Darren Coffell on lap 19 of the 40 lap event. Fast timer Jeremy Shank was the first car out after making contact with the outer wall on lap 7. A spin on lap 18 by Cody Sell brought out a one-lap yellow. After that, it was out and out racing right down to the checkered. Mike Miller, Trevor Glaser, Darren Coffell and Casey Vitale round out the top five for the Outlaw Late Model feature race. In the 25 lap B-Main event, veteran modified driver Sean Gentry took first place with his first appearance in his dirt late model. He turned down his transfer spot to the A-Main. Bob Boyd, who is a 4 time track champion finished 2nd and secured a transfer spot to the A-Main. Randy Boyd, Mark Carrell and John Campos rounded out the top 5. Justin Dittman took the 15-lap C-Main event with Todd Shandy, Jeff Diller, Yreka, CA driver Roger Lorenzini and Darvin Tramel finished in the top five.
Anthony Hopper drove the Glen Hackney owned #1 car to a win in the D-Main with Clint Mitchell, Tom Pitts, Brad Sieg and Steven Sturdevant in the top five. 49 Outlaw Late Models turned out for the opener and despite a very fast track there was little contact throughout the program. In the Super Sport class, local driver Greg Maas won the 20 lap A-Main with Portland's David Cronk in 2nd, Scio driver Zac Hales ran 3rd with Albany's Randy Barley in 4th and Portland driver Jason Johnson rounding out the top five. 17 Super Sports (Limited Late Models) were on hand for the opener. Lebanon Outlaw driver Randy Boyd who is again driving in both the Outlaw and Sportsman classes took top spot in the 20-lap Sportsman feature. Brad Hopkins, Tom Conway, Stacy Kreger and Bill Gibbs scored top five finishes. 23 Sportsman class cars made an appearance at this event. In the Classic Sportsman series Larry Phillips of Salem took the top spot in the A-Main. Rounding out the top five were Tim Patrick of Gresham, Mike Campbell, Bill Daun and Brian Cronk. On Friday night, April 28th, the winged 360s of the Northern Sprint Tour will open their 2006 season at Willamette Speedway. This will be the first of four appearances at Willamette during the 2006 season. On Saturday night April 29th Willamette will host 4 divisions of Dirt Track Stock car racing for the Outlaw Late Models, Super Sports, Sportsman and Classic Sportsman.
