MONMOUTH - Three McArthur Field stadium records were erased on Friday night to highlight efforts at the WOU Twilight meet.

Over 500 athletes competed in the meet, which began in warm afternoon sun and was completed after 11:00 PM under the stadium lights.

The University of Oregon's Colin Veldman established a stadium record in the men's discus, tossing the disk 182-0. The old mark was held by Western Oregon's Brian Crawford (168-8) in 2000. Crawford was also an NCAA Division II All-American in football at WOU and was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings.

Concordia's Annie Hess also broke the McArthur Field mark in the discus for the women. Her throw of 156-11 topped the 1997 mark of 156-0 by Jessica Marble of Lane CC. The women's 400 meter hurdle record also went by the wayside when Oregon's Kasey Harwood finished in 1:00.23. The previous mark was 1:00.94, set by Linfield's Amber Larsen in 2001.

Western Oregon's McArthur Field will also the site of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference championships, to be held next Saturday.
