Western Oregon Begins Spring Football Drills

MONMOUTH - The 2007 football season got underway on Wednesday, when spring practice began for the Western Oregon University Wolves.

The Wolves, under third-year head coach Arne Ferguson, will practice three days a week through the month of April.

In addition, three Saturday scrimmages are also on the schedule — Apr. 14th at Lake Oswego High School (1:00 PM), Apr. 21st at Grants Pass High School (1:00 PM) and the grand finale of the spring session on Apr. 28th at McArthur Field against the WOU Alumni (1:00 PM).

Ferguson’s group will practice from 3:00-6:00 PM each day. All practices are open to the public.

Next week, the team will hit the WOU practice field on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

During the final three weeks of the spring season the squad will workout on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday’s.

The Wolves finished 6-4 in 2006, with just a touchdown or less separating the team in all four of its losses.

WOU lost just 12 players to graduation, and will return seven starters on each side of the ball.

Western Oregon will open its 2007 season on September 1st at home versus Willamette.
