CORVALLIS - Beaver fans will have the opportunity next week to come watch Oregon State student-athletes perform in a totally different venue than their typical places of competition, as the fifth annual “The Other Side” talent show is set for Wednesday.

The event will be held at the LaSells Stewart Center. A silent auction will begin at 6:30 PM, with the talent show starting at approximately 7:00 PM.

“The Other Side” got its start in 2003 and each year proceeds have gone to a worthy charity.

This year will benefit the Bluffton (Ohio) University Memorial Fund, in memory of the school’s baseball players that died in a tragic bus accident in March.

Bluffton’s athletic teams are also known as the Beavers.

Tickets for the event are $5 for adults, $3 for OSU students with school identification and $1 for children ages 18 and under. Tickets will be available at the event only.

Among the acts currently scheduled to perform:

  • Baseball: a hip-hop/rap performance by Mitch Canham, Darwin Barney and the freshmen
  • Men’s Basketball: a standup comedy routine by Calvin Hampton
  • Women’s Basketball: a poem by Mercedes Fox-Griffin and a short dance routine
  • Women’s Cross Country: a video skit about the day in the life of an OSU runner
  • Football: members will perform a Haka dance (just as they did prior to the Sun Bowl)
  • Men’s Golf: a video of “modern golf”
  • Men’s Soccer: a performance on the guitar by Lucas Egenwall
  • Women’s Soccer: the evolution of dance
  • Softball: A retro-Beaver gear fashion show
  • Women’s Swimming: jump rope
  • Women’s Volleyball: a cheer/stomp
