Vikings Will Travel to Pullman for Football in 2008

Portland State expects to add more Pac-10 opponents to its schedule in succeeding seasons.

PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland State University Athletics has reached an agreement with Washington State to play a non-conference football game in Pullman in 2008.

The Vikings will travel to play the Cougars for the first time in history on September 20, 2008.

The Vikings will be playing their second Pac-10 opponent outside the state of Oregon.

PSU has played Oregon three times previously, Oregon State twice previously and California once.

Portland State is 2-22 all-time against NCAA I Football Bowl Subdivision opponents.

In 2006, the Vikings played three NCAA I FBS opponents, winning at New Mexico and losing at Oregon and Cal.

In 2007, the Vikings will play one FBS opponent in San Diego State, on Sept. 22.

The game with Washington State is the first scheduled by new Portland State Head Coach Jerry Glanville.

The Vikings have eight Big Sky Conference games in 2008, and will schedule two more non-conference games.
