MONMOUTH - Entering into his 11th season at the helm of the Western Oregon University women’s soccer program, head coach Rod Fretz welcomed 22 players to the opening day of practice on Monday.

The 16 returnees and six newcomers began the day with lots of paper work and physicals, before hitting the field for the season’s first workout at 4:15 PM.

Daily doubles will begin Tuesday, with morning and afternoon practices slated through Friday. That same schedule will continue through next week, until the Wolves open the season on Saturday, Aug. 26th at home versus Sonoma State (1:00 PM).

13 of the players to greet Fretz were letterwinners from a year ago, and ten returnees started in at least nine matches in 2005.

Three more players redshirted last fall, and six freshmen round out the roster.

WOU’s practices are open to the public.
