Aug-08-2007 15:09Mueller to Head Men's Soccer at Oregon TechSalem-News.com SPORTSMueller led the 2006 Oregon Tech women’s soccer team to a first ever Cascade Conference Playoff berth and a win over Corban College.
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - With the addition of men’s soccer coming to the Oregon Tech campus in 2008, Athletics Director Mike Schell announced today that Women’s Soccer Head Coach Bryan Mueller will start up the men’s program and be the head coach of both programs. Currently the Cascade Conference has eight programs competing in both men’s and women’s soccer with two coaches pulling double duty as men’s and women’s head soccer coaches. Mueller said, “This is very achievable and I would not take on the role if it were not. I am grateful for the opportunity to coach both OIT soccer programs. I believe that all my past experience will have an impact on both Oregon Tech soccer programs in a professional and dynamic way.” Athletic Director Mike Schell said, “We are fortunate to have Bryan Mueller already in place at OIT as well as wanting to take on the responsibility of the men’s program. He has done a tremendous job of getting our women’s soccer program to a very competitive level and I expect him to do the same with the addition of our men’s soccer program next season.” Mueller will begin his third season at Tech and brings with him 17 years experience coaching soccer at various levels along with being a licensed USSF Coach. Mueller’s overall record at OIT is 19-19. Mueller led the 2006 Oregon Tech women’s soccer team to a first ever Cascade Conference Playoff berth and a win over Corban College. Oregon Tech opens the 2007 women’s soccer season at home on August 24th with a non-league match-up at 7:00 p.m. against arch rival Southern Oregon University at the Steen Sports Complex. The men’s soccer program is currently recruiting for the upcoming 2008 Cascade Conference season. Interested prospective athletes should contact Coach Mueller at (541) 885-1626 or bryan.mueller@oit.edu.
