SALEM - On Friday and Saturday, the Capitol City will be rocking as the Hillyer's Mid-City Ford Classic will be taking place on the campus of Corban College featuring tournament-host Corban, NAIA Division I powerhouse Lewis-Clark State, NAIA Division II No. 2-ranked and undefeated Oregon Institute of Technology, and NCAA Division III member George Fox University.

Oregon Tech and George Fox will kick off the festivities on Friday beginning at 6:00 p.m. inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center with OIT head coach Danny Miles going for career win No. 800.

In 36 years of coaching, Miles has accumulated an overall mark of 799-351. Last Saturday, OIT defeated Corban, 100-71, to put its head coach within a win of becoming the 10th coach all-time (among all divisions) to register 800 career victories.

Currently, Miles sits second behind current McKendree head coach Harry Statham (923 and counting) in the NAIA.

In the series history between OIT and George Fox, the Hustlin' Owls have defeated the Bruins 24-out-of-38 times with neither team squaring off since the 1995-96 season.

In the second game on Friday, tournament-host Corban goes head-to-head with NAIA Division I member Lewis-Clark State in a rematch of an earlier pre-season match up beginning at 8:00 p.m.

The Warriors from Lewiston, Idaho, defeated the Corban Warriors, 74-56, in Game #2 of the Cannon's Building Material Classic held over Thanksgiving weekend inside the LC Activity Center.

In that game, Corban sophomore Jason Klontz led the Warriors with 11 points, while fellow sophomore Jason Braun and two other Warriors poured in 10 and 8 respectively.

In the series history between Corban and L-C State, the LCSC Warriors have won 5-out-of-7 meetings, including an 87-82 overtime victory last season in the Corban Classic.

On Saturday, OIT and Corban will flip-flop opponents with the Hustlin' Owls taking on Lewis-Clark State and Corban going head-to-head with George Fox.

Oregon Tech and LC-State will be squaring off at 6:00 PM, while Corban and George Fox will meet beginning at 8:00 PM.

This will be the first meeting of the season between OIT and Lewis-Clark State.

Meanwhile, Corban and George Fox have met 28 times in the series history with the Warriors winning 15 games over the Bruins, including a 108-100 victory last season.

Earlier this season, the Bruins bested the Warriors, 74-61, in Newberg for their first victory of the 2006-07 season.

In that game, sophomore Garrett Kauffman led Corban with 11 points, while Braun, sophomore Kyle Masten, and sophomore Wade Douglas added 10, 8, and 8 points respectively.

Tickets for the Classic can be purchased on game night inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
