OREGON CITY - The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man involved in a unique Super Bowl ticket scam.
27-year-old Warwick Steven Janetzki was arrested Jan. 22nd by Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Deputies. Sheriff's Office personnel had learned that Janetzki was allegedly offering fictitious Super Bowl tickets for sale on Craigslist. Deborah Einhorn in Vernon Hill, Illinois reportedly wired Janetzki $4,500 for the tickets -- but never received them. However, the victim was able to trace the suspect through PayPal -- and contacted the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office. Deputies contacted Janetzki -- who initially admitted to one incident of fictitious ticket-selling. He was lodged at Clackamas County Jail on Theft I and Computer Crime charges. Janetzki has since been released on his own recognizance from the Clackamas County Jail. Since the initial investigation and arrest, Sheriff's Office Detectives have executed a search warrant and discovered at least four additional victims, who are reported to have paid $440 to $10,000 for fictitious tickets -- with the aggregate amount totaling almost $15,000. All the identified victims are from out of state. CCSO Detectives were able to locate proceeds from these crimes, and feel confident most of the money scammed will be returned to the victims; indications are that the Sheriff's Office has located all victims of this crime spree. An additional victim identified as Dustan Beier, who resides in Chicago, Illinois almost lost $10,000 in the Super Bowl tickets scam. The case is currently under investigation, and will be presented to the Clackamas County District Attorney's Office for prosecution. The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office warns citizens to be on the lookout for fraudulent schemes involving ticket sales by people they don't know.
