ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Host Alaska Anchorage broke open a tight game by outscoring Western Oregon early in the second half on its way to a 62-45 women's Great Northwest Athletic Conference basketball win on Thursday night at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.

The win improved the Seawolves mark to 15-4 on the year and to 5-3 in the GNAC.

Western Oregon dropped to 3-16 overall and 2-6 in league play.

Western Oregon led for most of the first half until a Rebecca Kielpinski lay-up gave UAA a 22-21 lead with 3:44 left before intermission.

The Seawolves would head into the locker room with a 29-24 margin, and then outscored their visitors 19-6 in the first 10 minutes of the second half to seal the victory.

Kori Seymour led WOU with 20 points, hitting four of 11 three-pointers.

Leada Berkey added 16 points and 15 rebounds, her ninth double-double of the season.

But the Wolves hit just 26 percent of its shots from the field, and the Seymour-Berkey combination would account for all but nine of Western Oregon's points on the night.

UAA out-rebounded Western 51-39, paced by Kielpinski's astonishing 21 boards.

She also had eight points.

Maria Nilsson provided the outside game for the Seawolves, hitting six of 14 three-point attempts for 18 points.

Tristan Burnett and Meghan Vaughn added 11 each for the hosts.

Western Oregon will look to stop a two-game losing streak with a Saturday afternoon contest with Alaska Fairbanks, while Alaska Anchorage will host Saint Martin's on Saturday
