WOODLAND, Calif. - Oregon sophomore Ilsa van den Berg has been awarded the first Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Week Award for 2007, commissioner Al Beaird announced Tuesday.

The Reisterstown, Md. native scored a hat trick in the Ducks 10-6 upset of two-time defending MPSF champion Stanford, which marked the first win for the Ducks over the MPSF powerhouse and the first season opening win for the third-year program.

The Ducks second leading goal scorer a year ago as a freshman, this is van den Berg's first Player of the Week selection and she is only the second Duck to receive the honor.

Jen May is the only other Oregon player to garner the accolade, receiving it as a freshman during the week of April 4th, 2005.

The Ducks return to action on Sunday, as they take on the UC Davis Aggies at 1:00 PM at Pape' Field.

The match will mark the second conference opponent in as many games for the Ducks to open the season.
