PSU`s Hix Named Big Sky Golfer of the Week

PORTLAND - Portland State’s Justine Hix has been selected the first Big Sky Conference Golfer of the Week for the spring season after tying for sixth place at the Baja Invitational in Ensenada, Mexico.

Hix, a freshman from Grants Pass, Ore., fired rounds of 86, 77, 76 for a 239 in cold, windy conditions.

Hix helped Portland State to a fourth-place finish in the 13-team tournament. The tournament was played Feb. 12th-13th.

Portland State shot rounds of 338, 319, 325 for a 982 total. The fourth-place finish was PSU’s best of the 2006-07 season. Toledo won the tournament with a 947.

This is Hix’s first Player of the Week honor.

She is the second Viking to earn Player of the Week this year. Sophomore Kayla Morinaga was named Big Sky Conference Player of the Week on Oct. 5th.
