Warriors Blast Oregon Tech, 63-46

With its seventh straight win, Corban improves to 23-6 overall.

SALEM - A quartet of Warriors scored in double figures led by senior Brianne Carras' game-high 16 points and 12 rebounds, as Corban's women's basketball team extended its winning streak to seven games thanks to a 63-46 win over Oregon Tech on Friday.

Senior Jessi Norton helped the Warriors take an early advantage (9-2) when senior Kendall Dionne assisted her on a three-pointer with 17:34 on the first half clock.

Corban stretched its lead further when Norton found Carras for a lay-up that gave the Warriors a 23-11 lead with 8:41 left in the first half.

The home team continued to pressure the Hustlin' Owls of OIT by taking their greatest lead (15) of the first half when senior Tosha Wilson knocked down back-to-back free throws with just nine seconds remaining before the first half horn sounded to put Corban ahead at the break, 38-23.

Norton drained her third and final three-point shot with 16:26 left in the game that furthered the Warriors' lead (45-23) when junior Jessica Steigleman spotted her wide-open.

Dionne followed suit by burying a second three-pointer of her own that made the game 50-26 with 12:16 remaining to play when Steigleman found her waiting beyond the arc.

Carras carried Corban's lead to its largest of the game of 26 points (52-26) when Steigleman dished her a pass for a lay-in with 11:42 left in the game.

With the game in the bag, Wilson recorded her second block of the night when Oregon Tech's Jenni Miiller attempted a three-pointer with 1:33 left to trail off the game clock.

Wilson instantly grabbed the rebound and sealed the Corban win at 63-46.

Carras led all players in points and rebounds on 7-for-9 shooting from the field, while Norton turned in a 14-point and game-high 5-steal performances.

Steigleman recorded 12 points and a game-high 4 assists, while Wilson respectively added 11 points, a game-high 4 assists, and two blocks.

The visiting Hustlin' Owls were led by Cora McVey's 14 points and game-high 5 steals, while Lindsey Carmichael added 12 points and a team-high 7 rebounds and Crystal Idrogo also notched a game-high 3 blocks.

As a team, Corban shot 26-for-55 (47.3%) from the field, including 5-for-13 (38.5%) from beyond the 3-point line. The Warriors also tallied 6-for-9 (66.7%) from the free throw line.

Meanwhile, Oregon Tech shot 17-for-54 (31.5%) from the field, including 5-for-25 (20.0%) from beyond the arc.

The Hustlin' Owls also dropped in 7-for-9 (77.8%) from the charity stripe.

With its seventh straight win, Corban improves to 23-6 overall, 14-3 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action.

On the other hand, Oregon Tech falls to 19-7 overall, 11-5 in CCC play.

The Warriors will return home on Saturday, when they host Southern Oregon University beginning at 5:30 PM in the final regular season game of the season inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.

This will be the final regular season game for fifth-year head coach Dave Bale at the helm of the Warriors.

NOTE: Four seniors -- Wilson, Norton, Dionne, and Carras -- and one junior -- Katie Dennis (Damascus, Ore.) -- will be honored in a pre-game ceremony prior to tomorrow night's tip-off with Southern Oregon.
