Oregon State up to No. 9 in College Baseball Rankings

CORVALLIS - Oregon State rose in the three national baseball rankings that were released on Monday.

OSU -- which won two of three games to capture the Coca-Cola Classic tournament over the weekend -- is now ranked ninth by both Baseball America magazine and Collegiate Baseball newspaper, and seventh by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Assocation.

OSU is ranked 15th in the USA Today/ESPN preseason coaches poll; the next coaches poll will be released in late February.

The Beavers had won their first seven games of the season before falling to Gonzaga 6-5 on Friday, but bounced back to beat 14th-ranked Arizona State 12-4 on Saturday and Missouri 9-2 on Sunday.

Sunday’s victory was Pat Casey’s 400th in his 12-plus seasons as head coach at OSU.

Oregon State now travels to the River City Classic in Sacramento and Davis, Calif., this weekend.

The Beavers will play at California-Davis on Friday at 2:00 PM, against St. Mary’s (Calif.) at Sacramento State on Saturday at 10:00 AM, and at Sacramento State on Sunday at 2:00 PM.

All three games can be heard live via subscription on www.osubeavers.com; the first two games of the series can be heard live on KUIK-AM (1360) in the Portland area and the Sunday game will be tape delayed on KUIK at 3:30 PM.
