WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Oregon guard Tajuan Porter has been named the U.S. Bank Pacific-10 Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 19th-25th.

Porter, a freshman from Detroit, Mich., averaged 20 points and 2 steals last week as the Ducks swept the Washington schools at home.

In the Ducks’ 64-59 come-from-behind upset over No. 9 Washington State, Porter scored 11 straight points in a two minute span late in the second half to give Oregon the lead.

Porter was 5-for-5 from the charity stripe and shot .667 from both the floor (6-of-9) and beyond the arc (4-for-6) against the Cougars, tallying a total of 21 points.

The freshman’s hot streak continued into Oregon’s 93-85 win over Washington as he went 3-for-6 from three-point range against the Huskies.

Porter finished the game with 19 points, three assists, two steals and a board. He has now scored in double figures in seven straight games.

Porter reclaimed the league’s lead in free throw percentage by hitting 13-of-14 (.929) in the two games.

With seven trey’s on the weekend, Porter needs just one more to tie Jason Kapono’s Pac-10 freshman record of 82 set in 2000.

Earlier this season, Porter tied a Pac-10 record and set a school mark with 10 three-pointers against Portland State.

This is the first weekly honor for Porter and Oregon’s 27th Player of the Week all-time.
