LINCOLN, Neb. - The University of Oregon men's sprint crew and women's pole vaulters highlighted Saturday's second and final day action in the Husker Invitational, hosted by the University of Nebraska in the Devaney Center. The pole vault duo of senior Emily Enders and freshman Eniko Eros both ended with final clearances of 12-3 1/2, and tied for third and fifth, respectively. Junior Kasey Harwood also competed in the 800m and ranked 11th overall and third in the third heat of the event. On the men’s side, a pair of sprinters advanced to event finals -- junior Phil Alexander (200m, sixth, 21.78) and freshman Chad Barlow (400m, sixth, 48.47) -- and sophomore Jared Huske added 10th in the 60m hurdles semifinal (8.26). Alexander and Barlow came back to run the 4x400m relay with junior Marcus Dillon and freshman Ashton Eaton, and the quartet placed fifth (3:14.96) and were only .02 seconds off their season best. Next weekend could be the busiest of the winter schedule year with Ducks likely competing Fri.-Sat., Feb. 9th-10th at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., Husky Classic in Seattle, and the USA Cross Country Championships in Boulder, Colo. The squads will likely have a weekend off afterwards, then return to Seattle for the Mountain Pacific Championships, Fri.-Sat., Feb. 23rd-24th to take on many of the best teams from the Pac-10 and Big West Conferences.
