SEATTLE - Seattle Pacific went on runs of 11-0 and 7-0 in the second half to break open a close game and defeat Western Oregon 86-74 in a men’s Great Northwest Athletic Conference basketball game on Thursday night at the Royal Brougham Pavilion. 6-10 center Rob Will had 18 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Falcons, who improved to 9-5 on the season and 2-1 in GNAC play. Dustin Bremerman added 16 for SPU, while JoJay Jackson and Brian Lynch added 11. Jacob Mitchell and Ryan Schmidt had 19 each to lead WOU, who fell to 5-9 on the year and 0-3 in conference play.. Brad Krichevsky had 10 points off the bench all in the first half. Western Oregon led by as many as seven points in the first half, and took a 41-40 lead into the locker room at the break. The two teams traded buckets early in the second half, with the Wolves taking a 49-47 lead on a Mitchell basket. But the Falcons then went on a 11-0 run, capped by a three-pointer by Rob Diederichs to give the hosts a 58-49 lead. Moments later, SPU would go on another 7-0 blitz before Mitchell’s three-point play stopped the rampage. The Falcons go on to lead by as many as 15 points before the final 14-point margin was in the books. The Wolves shot just 38 percent from the floor in the second half, and were outrebounded after the break by 15 boards. Seattle Pacific shot 54 percent from the field after the break, after shooting just 41 percent the first half. Western Oregon will play their fourth straight conference game on the road this Saturday night, traveling to Ellensburg to take on Central Washington. Start time is 6:00 PM.
