EUGENE - The Oregon Ducks caught fire early and used a devastating bench to upend Arizona in a 86-73 Pac-10 Conference victory on Thursday night at McArthur Court.

The Ducks (10-5, 2-3 Pac-10) made 11-of-21 three-point attempts in ending a two-game slide and improved to 2-1 at home in Pac-10 contests this season.

The Wildcats (7-11, 1-5) suffered their sixth setback in seven games.

Oregon’s four-person bench accounted for 35 points and made 13-of-18 field goals, including 7-of-8 from three-point range. Freshman Taylor Lilley led the reserves with 13 points and hit on all three of her attempts from long range.

Freshman Micaela Cocks and senior Jamie Hawkins had eight points apiece and senior Carolyn Ganes added six for UO, which outscored the Wildcats’ non-starters 35-9.

Oregon shot a season-high 58 percent from the floor on 33-of-57 shooting. The Ducks’ 33 field goals were also a season best as were their 23 assists.

Eleanor Haring paced the Ducks with 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting and fellow senior Cicely Oaks scored 17 points. Oaks, the Pac-10 leader in three-point percentage coming into the game, made 3-of-5 from behind the arc to increase her overall percentage to .568.

Arizona senior Joy Hollingsworth had game-highs of 22 points and eight rebounds. Junior Jessica Arnold added 17 points and sophomore Amina Njonkou had 13.

The Wildcats shot 46 percent for the game, but managed only 33 percent in the second half. UA won the battle of the boards, 30-28, and also held a 34-32 edge in paint points.

After Arizona pulled within five points at 58-53 with 14:24 to play, Lilley nailed back-to-back three balls to spark a 13-1 Oregon run.

The Ducks led 54-45 at the half as both teams shot lights out with Oregon converting 63 percent and Arizona 59 percent of its attempts. Haring and Hollingsworth had 18 apiece to lead their respective squads.

UO led by as many as 15 points in the first half on three different occasions, the last coming with 1:36 to play.
