LAS VEGAS - The No. 28 ranked and third seeded pair of Dominika Dieskova and Ana Cecilia Olivos fell in the first round of the Freeman Memorial Tennis Championships, as the rest of the tournament was delayed by weather Friday at the Fertita Tennis Complex on the campus of the University of Nevada Las Vegas.

With a rare winter storm moving into the valley and temperatures dipping into the 30s, the schedule for the opening day of the tournament was shortened, with only a single round of doubles being played.

Dieskova and Olivos were upset by the UNLV pair of Elena Gantcheva and Kristina Nedeltchev, 8-2, and will fall into the consolation bracket, if the weather allows.

"We had a lot of chances early in matches to take control of the match, but we could not execute," head coach Paul Reber said. "Once you miss opportunities, it gives the other team confidence and all of our opponents were able to capitalize on that."

In other doubles action, the pair of Monica Hoz de Vila and Anna Powaska fell 8-3 to the No. 4 seeded pair of Anne Yelsey and Cecilia Durken of No. 1 ranked Stanford.

Sophomores Carmen Seremeta and Claudia Hirt fell 8-4 to the No. 2 seeded pair of Catrina and Christian Thompson of Notre Dame.
