Jan-13-2007 11:23Oregon State, ASU Both Seeking First Pac-10 Wins SaturdaySalem-News.com SPORTSOregon State’s games can be heard live on the radio on the Beaver Sports Network (which includes 18 stations throughout the Northwest, including KEX 1190 in Portland and KEJO 1240 in Corvallis/Albany).
TEMPE - The Oregon State men’s basketball team (8-9, 0-4) is on the road seeking its first Pac-10 Conference win of the season. The Beavers play at Arizona State on Saturday, another team seeking its first victory. GAME #18 — Saturday at Wells Fargo Arena: Oregon State at Arizona State (6-10, 0-5) at 4:30 PM MT/3:30 PM PT. ON TELEVISION: The Arizona State game will be shown on FSN Arizona only. ARIZONA STATE SERIES: OSU leads the all-time series, 36-31, with Arizona State. But, the Beavers have lost eight straight in Tempe, last winning there in 1997-98. OSU lost both regular-season meetings last year. In the first game at Gill Coliseum, ASU won 65-63 on a shot with eight seconds left in overtime. It was the game where Lamar Hurd suffered what turned out to be a season-ending injury. The Sun Devils also won at home, 76-59. However, OSU came back from a 15-point second-half deficit without three injured starters to beat ASU at the Pac-10 Tournament, 71-68. LAST GAME: Oregon State put together its strongest second-half offensive performance of the season, but #10 Arizona was too much in an 83-72 loss at the McKale Center on Thursday evening. The Wildcats opened the game with a 10-0 run and had another 10-0 run toward the end of the first half en route to a 42-27 halftime lead. In the second 20 minutes, the Beavers shot 58.1% and scored 45 points, their most in the second half this season. OSU made things interesting, cutting what was once a 22-point lead at 55-33 down to nine points at 78-69 with under three minutes to play. Marcel Jones scored 26 points and had eight rebounds to lead OSU. Sasa Cuic was the only other player in double-figures with 16 points.
