EUGENE - Oregon hosts its final home games this month when Stanford and California visit Eugene.

The Ducks face the Cardinal --the only Pac-10 team that none of UO’s current players have ever defeated -- on Thursday, at 5:30 PM.

Oregon wraps up the weekend with a 5:00 PM game against the Golden Bears on Saturday.

With a win Thursday, Oregon will have its best record (17-1) in 80 years.

The 1926-27 team ran its record to a school-best 24-1 before losing its final three games.

The 1926-27 season was also the first that Oregon played in McArthur Court, which turned 80 Jan. 14th (last Sunday).

The 1926-27 team was coached by William Reinhart, whom current UO coach Ernie Kent is trying to pass on the all-time Oregon coaching victories list.

Both men have 180 victories on the UO bench, tied for second in school history behind Hall of Famer Howard Hobson’s 212 wins.

The 1926-27 team played for the Pacific Coast Conference championship, losing a best-of-three series to California -- one of this weekend’s opponents -- 2-0.

The Ducks need one more win to assure the 56th winning season in program history (102 seasons).

With 16 wins, Oregon has already surpassed last season’s victory total (15-18).

Oregon is 3-0 against top 25 teams in 2006-07, having knocked off No. 18 Georgetown (Nov. 29th), No. 1 UCLA (Jan. 6th) and No. 10 Arizona (Jan. 14th).

The Ducks last defeated three ranked teams in the same year during the 2002-03 season (No. 14 Kansas, No. 25 Minnesota, No. 25 Stanford), and last toppled two top 10 teams in 1976-77 (No. 7 UCLA, No. 3 UCLA).

Tickets remain on sale for both games this week as well as six of the seven remaining home games.
