CORVALLIS - The Oregon State men’s basketball team (9-9 overall, 1-4 Pac-10), coming off its first Pacific-10 Conference victory of the season, hopes that Saturday’s win at Arizona State will mark the beginning of a successful run.

The Beavers return home this weekend to take on California and Stanford in a pair of regionally televised games.

GAME #19 — Thursday at Gill Coliseum: Oregon State vs. California (11-6, 3-2) at 7:30 PM.

GAME #20 — Saturday at Gill Coliseum: Oregon State vs. Stanford (11-4, 3-2, plays at Oregon on Thursday) at 5:00 PM.

TICKETS:

Tickets for all remaining Pac-10 games cost $20 for chair seats and $12 for bench seats. They can be purchased by calling (800) GOBEAVS, by going on-line to www.osubeavers.com or by visiting the ticket office in Gill Coliseum.

ON TELEVISION:

Both the California and Stanford games will be televised locally by FSN Northwest as well as on FSN Bay Area.

Brian Davis and Bob Weiss are the announcers for both games.

CALIFORNIA SERIES:

The Golden Bears lead the all-time series 69-57.

OSU has won two of the last three meetings, but prior to that Cal had won 14 straight games.

Last season, the Beavers won in Berkeley, 72-64, and lost in Corvallis, 69-52.

The Beavers, which are 27-23 all-time in Gill Coliseum against the Golden Bears, last won at home two seasons ago (2004-05).

STANFORD SERIES:

The Beavers lead the all-time series with the Cardinal, 66-54. However, Stanford has won 13 of the last 14 games.

The only OSU win during that stretch was at home in 2004-05.

All-time in Gill Coliseum, OSU is 32-19 in the series. Last year, the Cardinal won in Palo Alto 80-66 and in Corvallis 71-64.

Thankfully, Chris Hernandez (25.0 ppg the last four meetings) no longer plays at Stanford.

LAST GAME:

The Beavers won their first Pac-10 game in their fifth attempt and ended an eight-game losing streak in Tempe with a 67-59 victory at Arizona State on Saturday.

ASU led for much of the first half and took a 35-27 lead two minutes into the second half while the Beavers were on a nearly seven-minute scoring drought.

But OSU came alive, going on a 13-2 run to take a 40-37 lead with 12:52 to go. Sasa Cuic’s basket gave the Beavers the lead for good at 46-44 with 7:48 to play.

Holding a six-point lead with less than two minutes to play, the Beavers were sent to the free throw line on each of their final seven possessions and went 11-for-14.

Marcel Jones had a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds and Cuic scored a game-high 20 points.
