SALEM - Local high school stars Katie Hanson from South Salem High School and Teri Braun from Dallas High School have signed Letters of Intent for play women's soccer and women's volleyball respectively at Corban College beginning in 2007.

Hanson, a 5-foot-7 midfielder from South Salem High School, signed her national letter of intent following the conclusion of the Saxons' season in the quarterfinals of the state 6A tournament.

Hanson played four years of varsity soccer and helped lead South Salem to back-to-back conference titles, while earning 1st team all-league and all-region following her junior and senior seasons and all-state honorable mention after her 2006 senior season.

"I am excited to have Katie join the team, next fall," commented twelfth-year head coach Marty Ziesemer.

"She is a great athlete who has the ability and talent to contribute right away. While I am pleased with her talent on the field, I have also been impressed with her as a person of solid character and a great student."

Corban's women's soccer team is coming off a 7-11-1 campaign last season, including a 5-4-0 record in Cascade Collegiate Conference action.

The Warriors finished 3rd overall in the final regular season conference standings before falling in a shoot-out to Oregon Tech in the semifinal round of the conference post-season tournament.

Braun, a 6-foot outside hitter from Dallas High School, signed her national letter of intent following the Dragons' season.

Braun played three seasons of varsity volleyball, while serving as the team's co-captain, being named as the team's best offensive player, Most Valuable Player, and earning all-conference 1st team honors during her 2006 senior campaign.

Braun was also named Rookie of the Year for the varsity squad following her 2004 sophomore season.

Braun's older brother, Jason, is currently a member of Corban's men's basketball and baseball teams.

"Corban is friendly atmosphere and was very welcoming to me," said Braun. "I feel Corban will be a good place for me to learn and grow with other Christian students, as well as keep playing competitive volleyball."
