SALEM - Corban’s women’s basketball team will tip off the second half of its Cascade Collegiate Conference season this week when the Warriors hit the road for the first of back-to-back weekends away from Salem with match ups against nationally-ranked Albertson College of Idaho on Friday and Eastern Oregon on Saturday.

Friday’s game will tip-off at 4:30 PM, while Saturday’s contest will get underway at 5:30 PM.

SERIES NOTES:

Corban and Albertson have met 27 times in the series history with the Lady Coyotes winning 16-out-of-27 meetings.

Earlier this season, Albertson defeated Corban, 73- 69, inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center in both teams final game before the Christmas holiday.

Corban and Eastern Oregon have gone head-to-head 35 times with the Mountaineers holding the advantage, 21-14.

Earlier this season, Corban took the opening meeting with Eastern Oregon, 76-59, as Part II of the conference season began.

LAST WEEK:

Corban returned to the lovely confines of the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center last week for its lone home weekend of January when the Warriors hosted fellow Cascade

Collegiate Conference members Cascade and Warner Pacific.

On Friday, Corban continued its winning ways with a 65-46 victory over the visiting Lady Thunderbirds.

Junior Jessica Steigleman led all scorers with 17 points on 8- for-15 shooting from the field, while grabbing a game-high 9 rebounds (6 offensive).

Meanwhile, seniors Jessi Norton, Kendall Dionne, and

Brianne Carras also scored in double figures with 14, 11, and 10 points respectively.

Carras aided Steigleman on the boards with 7 rebounds, while senior Tosha Wilson handed out a game-high 8 assists.

Twenty-four hours later, the Warriors went toe-to-toe with 2005-06 Cascade Collegiate Conference regular season champions Warner Pacific and handed the Knights a wire-to-wire 78-64 defeat.

Carras led the Warriors with 19 points on 9-for-12 shooting from the field and had a game-high 11 rebounds.

Wilson chipped in with 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists, while Dionne pulled down 10 boards.

MILESTONE CLUB:

Junior Jessica Steigleman became the 11th member of the exclusive 1,000-point club in Corban women’s basketball history on Saturday when the 5-foot-10 guard scored her first two points against Warner Pacific.

Steigleman joined fellow teammates and seniors Jessi Norton and Tosha Wilson, who eclipsed the 1,000-point mark earlier this season.

Currently on the all-time points list, Norton ranks 5th, Wilson 7th, and Steigleman 11th.

COUNTDOWN TO 100:

In four-plus season, fifth-year head coach Dave Bale has accumulated 95 career wins heading into this weekend’s action.

With Corban’s next four games on road, Bale has a chance to collect his 100th career victory when the Warriors return home the first weekend in February.

STREAKING WARRIORS:

Corban is in the midst of its second five-game winning streak of the season, as the Warriors have won 10 of its last 11 games and 13 of their last 15 games.
