PALO ALTO, Calif. - Brooke Smith had 17 points and nine rebounds as No. 9 Stanford overcame an 11-point half time deficit to beat Oregon State 69-55 Saturday. Candice Wiggins added 15 points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Cardinal (15-3 overall, 8-0 Pac-10). Jill Harmon added 13 points and six rebounds for Stanford. Stanford outscored the Beavers 46-21 in the second half. Casey Nash scored 20 points to lead Oregon State (7-10 overall, 2-6 Pac-10). Judie Lomax had 10 points and six rebounds, while Jasmine Smith added 14 points in just 28 minutes of action for the Beavers. Stanford extended its winning streak against Oregon State to 13 games and the Beavers remained winless in Maples Pavilion (0-21), but the 14-point deficit marked the closest game in Palo Alto since 2001. Stanford shot 48 percent from the field compared to 38 percent by the Beavers. However Oregon State shot just a bit better from behind the arc than the Cardinal, 29-22 percent. Stanford extended its winning streak against Oregon State to 13 games and the Beavers remained winless in Maples Pavilion (0-21), but the 14-point deficit marked the closest game in Palo Alto since 2001. Oregon State returns to action on Wednesday in Eugene with a 7:00 PM tip-off against rival University of Oregon on McArthur Court.
