EUGENE - In its first regular season matches at home, the University of Oregon Women’s Tennis team shut out the Montana State Bobcats Saturday morning and the Portland Pilots that night at the Student Tennis Center. In the morning against the Bobcats, Dominka Dieskova and Ana Cecilia Olivos began the sweep with the first win in doubles, cruising to an 8-2 victory, while Claudia Hirt and Carmen Seremeta kept up the momentum with an 8-3 victory in their match, and Anna Powaska and Monica Hoz de Villa also won 8-3. In singles, Hirt quickly disposed of McKenzie Hilmer, dominating the first two sets 6-0, 6-0. Next off the court was Seremeta, who defeated Katy Proietti in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. After a strong win in her doubles match with Olivos, Dieskova walked away with a singles victory, 6-4, 6-1 to Nuria Hernandez. Hoz de Vila had no trouble in her singles match, sweeping Remy Clark with two straight 6-1 sets. Anna Powaska rallied against Laura Villegas to a 6-3 victory in the first set, finishing the match with an easy 6-0 win in the second set. In the closest match of the morning, Olivos lost her first set to Nicole Luetolf 4-6, but bounced back with a 6-3 second set win after being down 3-2 and recovered again after being down 1-3 in the super tiebreaker, fighting through to grab a 10-6 victory. Iwinski: 4-6, 6-3 (6 Hot off of the morning sweep again Montana State, the Ducks comfortably rolled to another shut-out victory, this time over the Pilots on Saturday night. The Ducks again faced no difficulty in winning the doubles point 3-0. Dominika Dieskova and Ana Cecilia Olivos defeated Lindsey Griffen and Audree Jenks 8-2. Claudia Hirt and Carmen Seremeta rolled to an 8-3 victory, and Anna Powaska and Monica Hoz de Vila won their match 8-5. In singles action, Hoz de Vila dispatched Megan Sporndli 6-0, 6-2 in the top position. In the second position, Hirt won her match 6-1, 6-4. Olivos would get the win at the three spot for the Ducks, defeating Griffin 6-1, 6-2. Powaska continued the winning spree with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Jenks. At the five spot, Seremeta and Christina Feyen kept it close in the first set, but Seremeta overcame the challenge and took the match, 7-5, 4-3. Dieskova closed out the win for the Ducks, after losing the first set 4-6, winning the second 6-0, then dominating the tiebreaker with 10-3. Doubles: Dieskova/Olivos (UO) def.
