STARKVILLE, Miss. - Oregon State University’s softball team enters the 2007 season with a No. 6 national ranking in the USA Today/NFCA Preseason Top 25 poll released on Wednesday by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

The ranking is the highest for the Beavers to start a season in program history.

OSU ascended to a program-best No. 5 national ranking in May of 2006.

Oregon State returns 11 players, including All-Americans Brianne McGowan and Cambria Miranda, from last season’s squad that reached the NCAA Women’s College World Series.

The Beavers are one of seven Pac-10 teams ranked in the preseason Top 25, with defending national champion Arizona earning the top-ranking, UCLA (3), Arizona State (5), Oregon State (6), Stanford (8), California (10) and Washington (12).
