Northwest University Defeats Corban College, 108-81

KIRKLAND, Wash. - #20 Northwest University defeated Corban College 108-81 in Cascade Conference play Saturday night.

Corban battled the Eagles for much of the first half without the services of starter, Wade Douglas, who was ill and did not make the trip north.

After several ties and lead changes, Northwest slowly pulled away from the younger and smaller Warriors to lead 50-29 at half time.

Aaron Sawyer led six Eagles (15-5 overall, 6-4 CCC, #20 in NAIA Division II) in double figures with 20 points and 8 rebounds on the night.

Kendrick Holley followed with 18 points and 8 rebounds, Chase Van Cleave with 15 and Morgan Axton added another 13 points and 8 assists for Northwest University. Northwest U. also won the battle on the rebounds with a 43-21 edge.

For the second night in a row, NU shot over 60% from the field making 62% of their 2 point shots. The Eagles also shot 50% from 3-point range (13-26).

Corban (1-17 overall, 0-7 CCC) was led by Kyle Masten with 20 points, teammate Jason Braun added another 19 and Brad Reynoso scored 9 points for the Warriors.

Corban was held to 37.5% shooting on the night from 2-point range and 38.2% from the 3-point arc.
