Oregon-UCLA postgame quotes:

Oregon:

Head Coach Ernie Kent

On taking fewer three point shots:

"We knew that we were a great team off the dribble. We showed that in the Georgetown game. I thought the way we read the floor and took the ball to the basket was a lot like the Georgetown game."

"Our team has really been through a lot, and to their credit they have battled through it. I appreciate them for sticking with us, and sticking with themselves."

"Their is still a lot of growth potential for this team. The key is to get healthy."

On G Malik Hairston sitting out:

"I thought this game was going to be too intensity filled to bring him back, because he's a competitor and he would have wanted to go out their and battle."

"We are a small team, and we want to spread the floor and use our speed. We always want to keep the pressure on teams, all the way through the last possession."

Junior F Maarty Leunen

"That was probably the biggest game in my three years here. We had a lot to prove, and this was a huge win, for us to beat the number one team in the nation."

"This was a physical game. Even their guards play really physical. We just had to step it up and compete with their players."

On guarding F Josh Shipp on the last shot:

"I just had to play good, solid defense. I knew he had to put up a quick shot because the clock was running out, and luckily it didn't go in."

"We were disappointed with how many three's we attempted against USC, and we made it a priority to take the ball to the hoop and make them play defense."

Junior F Bryce Taylor

"This proves all the doubter wrong that didn't think we were a high caliber team. We knew we had the athletes to compete with (UCLA) position-to-position, and today we did."

On the play of G Aaron Brooks

"Aaron is clutch, we look for him to take over at the end of the game. I've never played with anyone like him. He's incredible."

Senior G Aaron Brooks

On making the go ahead shot at the end of the game:

"I was dribbling down the baseline, and I heard (Darren) Collison call for a trap, so I wanted to shoot before they got to me. I wanted to run some more time off the clock, but I was open so I just took it."

"We knew UCLA was going to work hard for 40 minutes, and we would have to match them. We were able to outlast them today."

"Thanks to the coaches, we play in a system where we can compete with anybody. We just wanted to come out and show what we can do."

UCLA

Junior G Arron Afflalo

"I never thought I would feel this way my entire career here. I actually thought this team couldn't be beaten."

On the last play of the game:

"We should have never been in that situation in the first place and I take the blame for that. My game in the first half was disgusting."

"I don't want to feel this way ever again so I'm going to have to do what I've got to do."

"I don't think we came out with the intensity we needed. They penetrated well."

On the crowd:

"They kept them in the game early. Toward the end we really kind of tuned the crowd out."

Freshman G Russell Westbrook

"I think we'll bounce back well. We're a good team and we've fought through things before."

"I always have faith that in the end we're going to pull it out. Unfortunately, we didn't."

"This was my first really hostile environment so it was a factor."

Sophomore G Darren Collison

On the last play of the game:

"I think we settled for a three-pointer when we should have went for two. I tried to drive and we didn't have anything there."

"That's a good team. They've got a lot of great guards that can just beat you off the dribble. They weren't settling for shots. They were going to the basket."

Up next for the Ducks is a road game Thursday against Arizona State.

Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM.
