Sun Devils Defeat Beavers

The Beavers return to action on January 19th when they host the University of Idaho Vandals.

TEMPE, Ariz. - A day after splitting its dual meet with No. 2 Arizona and Northern Arizona, the Oregon State swim team fell to Arizona State 82-180.

The Beavers (5-7, 0-4 Pacific-10 Conference) won three races and delivered another solid performance.

“We culminated the trip with two good meets, especially today,” OSU head coach Larry Liebowitz said. “Both outcomes this weekend were good and we are now in position to move forward to the next few meets and then the Pac-10 Championships.”

A day after winning two races, Kayla Rawlings won the 200 Yard Butterfly (2:03.96) by over three seconds. Rawlings also helped the OSU relay team to a second place finish (1:47.26) in the 200 Medley Relay.

Saori Haruguchi won the 200 Backstroke (2:02.70), earning her 18th dual meet win of the season and 33rd of her career.

Haruguchi is now seventh all-time in career dual meet wins.

Ausra Pacebutaite sits in sixth place with 39.

Megan Evans won the 400 IM (4:26.69) by over five seconds to help lead a solid Beaver effort.

The Beavers return to action on January 19th when they host the University of Idaho Vandals at 6:00 PM and then host Washington State University on January 20th at 11:00 AM.
