Western Oregon's Boss Named to All-America Squad

MONMOUTH - Western Oregon senior tight end Kevin Boss was named today to the second team of the d2football.com All-American team.

Boss had 33 catches, five touchdowns and 403 yards in receptions, despite playing only six games before his season ended with a shoulder injury.

The 6-7, 255-pounder was a four-year starter for the Wolves and leaves the program fourth in career touchdown catches with 19.

2006:

Named d2football.com second team All-American, despite playing in only six games because of injury.

Had 33 catches for 403 yards and five touchdowns in those six games…Hurt his shoulder against Central Washington and missed the rest of the season.

Finished sixth all-time at WOU with 134 career receptions.

His 1,590 reception yards is eighth on WOU’s all-time list.

19 touchdown grabs in four seasons is the fourth highest in school history.

Had seven catches for 139 yards and two scores against Texas A&M-Kingsville.

Had eight catches for 81 yards in his career finale against CWU, all in the second half.

Named to the ESPN the Magazine all-district academic team.

Named second team All-Northwest region by both d2football.com and Daktronics.

2005:

Named to the first-team Daktronics All-American squad, highlighting a year filled with honors.

Also second-team pick on the Hansen Gazette All-America squad.

Pre-season All-American pick this summer by that same group and also by Lindy’s magazine.

On everyone’s all-region team as a tight end.

First-team All-GNAC pick.

Totaled 53 catches for 621 yards.

Eight of those grabs went for touchdowns, the fourth highest total in school history.

Now has 14 career TD catches, seventh on WOU’s all-time list.

Second on the Wolves in total catches (53) and first in yardage (621).

Had seven catches for 100 yards and three TD’s at Central Washington.

Had a season-best nine grabs (83 yards) versus Humboldt State.

Longest catch was for 43 yards against the Wildcats.

Second on the team in scoring with 48 points.

One of WOU’s top reserves on the basketball team, leading the squad in blocked shots with 17.

2004:

Hauled in 39 catches for 506 yards and 5 touchdowns… Scored the most points on the team with 32.

Had the longest play from scrimmage with a 46 yard reception.

Third on the team in all-purpose yards.

Was offensive MVP of the last game of the year, against Central Washington when he had 8 catches for 68 yards and a TD… Also had 11 receptions for 157 yards and 2 TDs in 4OT win over Western Washington.

Scored his other two touchdowns against Humboldt State when he had 5 grabs for 82 yards.

Ranked fourth in the conference in receiving touchdowns.

Was named First-Team All-GNAC for his outstanding season.

Named to the all-region squad by Daktronics and Hansen’s Gazette.

Played basketball for the Wolves, averaging 2.4 points and 2.0 rebounds a contest in 26 games. Had a season best of 16 points.

2003:

Moved into a starting role for the Wolves. Had nine catches for 60 yards and a touchdown.

Best game was at Humboldt State when he had five catches for 26 yards.

Had an acrobatic touchdown catch against Mesa State. Earned second-team All-GNAC honors.

2002:

Redshirted the 2002 season for the Wolves.

PRIOR TO WOU:

2002 graduate of Philomath High School -- Earned honorable mention All-State (3A) honors at tight end as a senior -- First team All-ValCo League tight end as a senior; second team all-league as a junior -- Played in East-West Shrine Game in Baker -- Second team all-league defensive end as a junior -- Lettered three times each in football and basketball -- Starting center on Philomath’s 2002 state championship basketball team -- Honorable mention all-state and all-league first team center in basketball as a senior; second team all-league as a junior.

PERSONAL:

Born in Corvallis, Oregon -- Major is physical education, minor is business -- Parents are Teresa and Bob Boss of Philomath -- Mother attended the University of Idaho and is an elementary school assistant principal -- Father also attended the University of Idaho and is a probation officer -- Kevin has one brother, Terry, 25, who played soccer at the University of Tulsa.
