Oregon's Brooks Wins Pac-10 Player of The Week

This is the first weekly honor for Brooks and Oregon's 26th Player of the Week all-time.

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Oregon guard Aaron Brooks has been named the U.S. Bank Pacific-10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for January 1st-7th, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced Monday.

Brooks, a senior from Seattle, Wash., averaged 28.0 points, 4.0 assists, 3.0 steals and 2.5 rebounds in leading the Ducks to a split with the Los Angeles schools.

He opened the week with 31 points in a 84-82 loss to USC.

He shot 11-of-18 (.611) from the field, including 6-of-9 (.667) from three-point range, and added five assists and three steals.

In the 68-66 win over previous-No. 1 UCLA, Brooks scored 25 points on 9-of-13 (.692) shooting from the field, including the game-winning jumper with :13 seconds remaining. He added three rebounds, three assists and three steals.

For the week, he shot 20-of-31 (.645) from the field, 7-of-10 (.700) from three-point range, and 9-of-11 (.818) from the free throw line.

His 56-point weekend helped Brooks take over the Pac-10's scoring lead at 18.1 points per game.
