EUGENE, Ore. - Danny Payne's RBI double capped a three-run eighth inning as Eugene rallied past visiting Tri-City, 3-2, on Monday. After Aeden McQueary drew a one-out walk and Justin Pickett was hit by a pitch in the eighth, Robert Blauer greeted Dust Devils reliever Craig Rodriguez with an RBI double before Andrew Parino tied the game with a run-scoring single. Payne's second two-bagger of the season put the Emeralds (22-12) on top. Eugene reliever Christopher Perez (3-0) allowed two hits and a walk while fanning three in three shutout frames for the win. Jackson Quezada worked around a single in the ninth for his seventh save. Starter Cory Luebke gave up two runs on six hits while striking out five over 4 2/3 frames. Darin Holcomb hit a two-run homer, his sixth, for the Dust Devils (11-23). Tri-City starter Bruce Billings yielded two hits and struck out a career-high 11 over six shutout frames, lowering his ERA to 2.36. The 21-year-old right-hander has struck out 45 and walked just four over 34 1/3 innings in seven starts this season. Rodriguez (1-2) allowed a run on three hits while recording two outs.
