Volcanoes Topple Bears, 9-4

KEIZER, Ore. - Chad Rothford and Garret Baker drove in two runs apiece as Salem-Keizer toppled visiting Yakima, 9-4, on Tuesday.

Rothford crushed a two-run homer, his sixth, in the first inning and Baker slapped a two-RBI single in the second.

Brock Bond and Jeremiah Luster each had three hits and scored twice for the Volcanoes (29-6), who've won four in a row.

Salem-Keizer reliever David Mixon (2-0) got the win, scattering three hits with four strikeouts over three scoreless innings.

Starter Jared Cranston gave up two runs on four hits, walking two and fanning three in four frames.

Aaron Hanke delivered a two-run single in the fifth for the Bears (13-22), who've lost three straight.

Yakima starter Chase Christianson (2-2) gave up five runs on five hits and four walks while fanning five in five innings.
