LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Pacific-10 Conference announced the results of its preseason poll of west coast media members during the league’s annual media day and the University of Oregon was picked sixth, trailing unanimous top choice USC, California, UCLA, Arizona State and Oregon State, respectively.

The Ducks, coming off a 4-5 Pac-10 mark in 2006, received a total of 226 points from 39 ballots, which was only 16 points shy of the Sun Devils for fourth.

“Our focus right now is squarely on Houston,” head coach Mike Bellotti said in reference to UO’s Sept. 1 opener at Autzen Stadium. “I think our team is hungry and ready to prove that they are a better football team than they showed at the end of last season. If anything, being picked sixth will only serve as added motivation.”

USC, picked as the preseason favorite for the fifth consecutive season, is only the third team in the poll's 46-year history to earn every first-place vote.

Oregon begins fall camp on Monday, Aug. 6.
