Perez, Emeralds Silence Volcanoes

EUGENE, Ore. - Christopher Perez and three relievers combined on a two-hitter as Eugene stifled visiting Salem-Keizer, 6-1, on Friday.

Perez allowed one run on a hit and a walk with three strikeouts over four innings before Matt Handley gave up one hit and fanned one in the fifth.

Cory Luebke (3-0) walked two and struck out six in three hitless frames for the win and Robert Woodard closed the game with a perfect ninth.

Justin Baum sparked a six-run sixth with a leadoff homer.

Andrew Parrino lined a two-run single, Luis Durango ripped a two-run triple and Eric Sogard had an RBI bunt single for the Emeralds (25-13).

Durango went 2-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to 16 games. He has reached base in 26 consecutive contests, a Northwest League season-best.

Garret Baker lined an RBI single in the first for the Volcanoes (30-8), who have lost consecutive games for the first time this season.

Salem-Keizer starter Ricky Bauer allowed four hits and a walk with five strikeouts over four scoreless innings.

Andrew De La Garza (5-1) took the loss after surrendering three runs on two hits and a walk in 1 1/3 frames.
