EUGENE, Ore. - Jackson Williams' solo homer in the eighth inning proved to be the decisive run as Salem-Keizer held off host Eugene, 6-5, on Saturday.

Williams slugged his fifth homer in the eighth to give the Volcanoes (31-8) a 6-4 lead.

Chad Rothford, Matthew Downs and Brock Bond lined RBI singles in Salem-Keizer's five-run second.

Salem-Keizer reliever Jesse English (4-0) walked one and struck out a career-high nine over three hitless innings for the win.

Daniel Otero got his Northwest League-leading 12th save, despite serving up Justin Baum's solo homer in the ninth.

Baum went 3-for-5, Yefri Carvajal smacked a two-run double and Kellen Kulbacki and Justin Pickett drove in a run apiece for the Emeralds (25-14).

Starter Matthew Latos (0-3) took the loss after surrendering five runs -- two earned -- on four hits and two walks while fanning four in 1 2/3 frames.
