Jul-08-2007 07:51Vancouver Nips Eugene in Extra Innings, 4-3Salem-News.com SPORTSFabian Gomez (2-1), the sixth Vancouver pitcher, tossed a scoreless 11th to pick up the win.
VANCOUVER, B.C. - Justin Frash ripped an RBI single in the bottom of the 11th inning as Vancouver outlasted Eugene, 4-3, on Saturday. Reliever Matt Huff (0-2) hit Matt Sulentic and walked Dan Hamblin before Frash delivered a one-out base hit to right field to end the four-hour contest. Mike Richard stroked an RBI double and Sulentic followed with a two-run triple in the third for the Canadians (12-7). Fabian Gomez (2-1), the sixth Vancouver pitcher, tossed a scoreless 11th to pick up the win. Starter Brad Hertzler allowed an unearned run on two hits and a walk with three strikeouts over 2 2/3 innings. Luis Martinez and Daniel Payne each drove in a run for the Emeralds (13-6).
