EVERETT, Wash. - The AquaSox lost 3-2 to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes Sunday afternoon at Everett Memorial Stadium squandering a solid outing by right-hander Nolan Gallagher. The 4th round 2007 draft pick out of Stanford University settled down after allowing the first two batters of the game to reach base. He turned in five scoreless innings allowing only a 5th inning home run to Volcanoes’ second-basemen Matt Downs (3). Gallagher faced 25 batters, walked none and struck out four. The Frogs bats showed definite signs of life Sunday heating up for eight hits scattered throughout. Manelik Pimentel hit a second inning home run (3) and right-fielder Joe Dunigan went 2-for-4 out of the six hole. With the win on Sunday, Salem-Keizer furthers their winning streak to eight games. In those eight games, Volcanoes relief pitchers have thrown 41 innings and allowed only 2 runs. The AquaSox will face the Volcanoes again in the final game of the series on Monday at 7:05 p.m. with gates opening at 6:00 p.m. The night will feature American Cancer Society and Relay for Life Night. NOTE: Seattle Mariners right-handed pitcher Mark Lowe is expected to make the start on Monday in a rehab assignment. Lowe pitched for Everett in the 2004 season (1-2, 4.93, 38.1 innings, 38 strikeouts).
