SALEM, Ore. - Second-year Corban head men's soccer coach Dave Irby has announced that three high school seniors have signed Letters of Intent for next season, including local South Salem senior and all-state honorable mention defender Collin Box.

Irby, who is coming off a first-year campaign that produced a win-loss record of 9-7-3 and a trip to the NAIA Region I Tournament, inked Box and fellow high schools seniors Brendan McCornack (Moses Lake, Wash.) and Aaron Paulson (St. Helens, Ore.) for the 2007 season.

Box ended his high school career this past season, as he helped lead the Saxons to the 6A state tournament semifinals and earned 1st team All-Central Valley Conference and All-Region honors.

The 5-foot-9 defender was also named all-state honorable mention, while earning captain honors for South Salem during his senior campaign.

Box was named Most Inspirational Player for the Saxons following his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons.

In 2005, Box earned 2nd team All-Valley League, while playing on the U-16 Northwest Division ODP Select Team.

McCornack played four years at Moses Lake Christian Academy, where the 6-foot forward/midfielder helped lead MLCA to a third place finish in the 1B state tournament thanks to a 2-1 win over Tacoma Baptist.

McCornack helped guide MLCA to a 20-1-0 record this past season, as he ended his senior season with 19 goals and 7 assists to bring his high school total to 51 goals and 20 assists.

McCornack was a member of the 4-time conference and District 6 championship teams, while winning the regional championship during his final season at Moses Lake Christian Academy.

At the end of his high school career, McCornack had earned all-conference honors twice, while being named team co-captain and Best Offensive Player during his junior and senior seasons.

Paulson played the past two seasons at St. Helens High School, where he helped lead the Lions from his midfield position.

The 5-foot-10 Paulson was named to the 1st team all-conference team following his junior and senior seasons, while earning OSAA academic honors for his performance and good citizenship.

The men's soccer team kicks off the 2007 season against Cascade Collegiate Conference member Northwest Christian on Friday, August 31st, in the annual Soccer Under the Lights game beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Warrior Field before traveling to Southern California to take part in the annual Cougar Classic hosted by Azusa Pacific University on Friday and Saturday, September 7th & 8th.
