Jun-12-2007 06:12Dunn Continues to Add Recruits to Corban Volleyball RosterSalem-News.com SPORTSRashelle Davenport comes to Corban following two seasons at Mt. Hood Community College.
SALEM, Ore. - First-year Corban head women's volleyball coach Heather Dunn continues to add to her list of recruits for the upcoming 2007 season, as she has added a pair of junior college transfers to her list of incoming players for next season. Dunn, who took over for long-time head coach Tracy Smith in early February, has been hitting the pavement hard looking for players for the upcoming season and continues to add to her list of recruits as she signed Rashelle Davenport (Longview, Wash.) and Naomi Frost (Salem, Ore.) as members of the Warrior roster for 2007. Davenport comes to Corban following two seasons at Mt. Hood Community College where she helped the Saints capture the 2006 NWAAC championship. The 5-foot-10 left-handed outside hitter was a two-time 1st team all-league member, while helping Mt. Hood Community College capture the Southern region championship during both seasons. Davenport finished her final season at Mt. Hood with 62 kills, 15 assists, 1 service ace, 38 digs, and 26 blocks (2 solo, 24 assist) in 15 matches. Frost finished her junior college career at Blue Mountain Community College with 97 kills, 18 assists, 4 service aces, 46 digs, and 24 blocks (4 solo, 20 assist) this past season, while helping lead the Timberwolves to the NWAACC tournament. The 6-foot outside hitter was named Female Athlete of the Year this past season and earned 1st team all-district as a Timberwolf. Davenport and Frost join current recruits Teri Braun (Dallas, Ore.), Kristen Eiler (Salem, Ore.), Emily Stupfel (Salem, Ore.), and Margo Wyatt (Dufur, Ore.). The women's volleyball team will begin the 2007 season at the annual Crowne Plaza Labor Day Festival on August 31st against Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) member Hope International University beginning at 11:00 a.m. in Irvine, California.
