Jun-13-2007 04:47NASCAR: Dale Earnhardt Jr Going to HendrickDale Earnhardt Jr. stands at 14th in this year's Nextel Cup standings.
MOORESVILLE, NC - One of the biggest names in NASCAR, Dale Earnhardt Jr., says he will hold a news conference Wednesday at 11:00 AM making official his switch to Hendrick Motorsports for 2008. In a surprising move, it was announced that Earnhardt will soon be spending a lot more time around Jeff Gordon with Hendrick Motorsports. Earnhardt's decision in May to leave the team that his late father founded was partly based over disagreements he had with his stepmother, Teresa Earnhardt, over how the racing team would be divided up. It is reported that dale earnhardt wanted to have a controlling interest in the team. Dale Earnhardt, Inc. Nextel Cup team, was taken over by Teresa Earnhardt after the loss of her late husband, seven time stock car racing champ Dale Earnhardt. Dale Earnhardt Jr. stands at 14th in this year's Nextel Cup standings. He was the 2004 Daytona 500 champion and NASCAR Busch Series champion in 1998 and 1999.
