CORVALLIS - Senior point guard Lamar Hurd of the men`s basketball team and senior gymnast Chrissy Lamun of the women`s gymnastics squad are Oregon State`s 2005-06 Pacific-10 Conference Medal winners, the league office announced today.

A Conference Medal is awarded annually to each member institution`s outstanding senior male and female student-athlete based on the exhibition of the greatest combination of performance and achievement in scholarship, athletics and leadership.

Conference Medal winners will be honored at the State Farm Pride of the Pac-10 Luncheon, held in Los Angeles in March 2007 during the Pac-10 Men`s Basketball Tournament.

Hurd (Houston, Texas/Heritage Christian HS) missed half of his senior year due to injury, but his value to the program still led to him being named the team`s co-MVP. The starting point guard for just about his entire career, he finished eighth in assists on OSU`s all-time list with 374. He was a three-time Pac-10 All-Academic selection, including first team honors in 2006. Hurd was also a 2005 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports-Scholar. He is majoring in communications.

Lamun (Reno, Nev./McQueen HS) was a team captain as the Beavers qualified for the NCAA Championships, held in Corvallis, in April 2006. She earned All-American second team honors this year on the balance beam. A standout student, she is a three-time National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women Scholastic All-American, a 2004 CoSIDA Academic All-District second team selection and a three-time Pac-10 All-Academic honoree, including first team honors in 2006. She is majoring in general science with a minor in business administration.
