PORTLAND, Ore. - Silverton High School’s Haley Roth signed on to continue her education and play basketball for Concordia University, Cavalier head coach Aaron Christian announced yesterday.

Roth joins five other prep basketball standouts from Oregon and Washington as part of Concordia’s 2006-07 recruiting class.

Roth was a three-year letterwinner in basketball and volleyball at Silverton.

As a senior guard, Roth was recognized as first-team all-conference as well as being named conference MVP in basketball.

She was also a two-year member of the golf team, a stint that included a trip to the state tournament during her senior season, becoming the first girl in school history to make that distinction.

"Haley is player that can contribute at either guard position,” Christian said. “What impressed me the most was how well she can attack the basket and finish."

Haley is the daughter of Jackie and Jim Roth. Her family includes two older brothers, Andy and Jim. She plans to major in nursing at Concordia.
