OMAHA, Neb. - After running through their final practice yesterday, the Oregon State baseball team is ready for their opening game of the 2006 College World Series. The Beavers open their series play in Omaha (Nebraska) this afternoon against Miami (Florida).

PORTLAND - Rookie Graham Rahal does NOT have much experience driving a wet track. But the way the 17-year-old son of racing legend Bobby Rahal figures it, rain this weekend at Portland International Raceway might NOT be a bad thing. Rahal says he does NOT see himself as a favorite in the race. He says provisional pole-sitter Simon Pagenaud will be the one to beat.

PORTLAND - He flipped his car in a practice run yesterday in Portland. But Champ Car driver Oriol Servia escaped injury and went on to finish ninth in qualifying with his backup car. It was Servia's second consecutive high-speed crash after hitting the wall in Milwaukee two weeks ago.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Portland Timbers are on the road in Rochester, New York, for a game against the Raging Rhinos this afternoon. The Timbers are coming off a 2-to-1 win over the Minnesota Thunder on Thursday.
