Salem-Keizer Volcanoes Errupt for 8-2 Win

BOISE - The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes had their way with Boise pitching Wednesday night and came away with an 8-2 win.

Boise starter Alberto Cabrera allowed four runs on six hits in 3 and 2/3 innings.

Salem-Keizer converted both walks the starter allowed into runs.

Harol Tolentino pitched 3 and 1/3 innings allowing three runs, including a two-run home run to Garrett Baker in the seventh inning. He also committed three balks.

The first two pitches out of the gate for the Hawks were both 18-years-old.

John Mueller gave up a run in his one inning of work in the eighth inning.

Derek Schermerhorn, who started the game at designated hitter, pitched a scoreless ninth inning.

The Hawks did not score until the ninth inning when Mark Sawyer launched a two-run home run off of Waldis Joaquin.

The Hawks finished with seven hits.

Dylan Johnston had two hits, following his four-hit performance on Tuesday night.

The series continues Thursday night as the Hawks send right-hander Chris Huseby to the mound against the Volcanoes Wilmin Rodrigeuz.

First pitch at Memorial Stadium in Boise is 7:15 p.m.
