SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane Indians picked up their first win of the season with a 3-1 defensive gem over the Eugene Emeralds, largely powered by Spokane first baseman Renny Osuna’s first professional home run in two seasons of professional baseball.

Osuna finished the game 3-4 with three RBIs.

While Eugene quickly got on the scoreboard in the first inning taking the 1-0 lead, starting pitcher Jacob Brigham was able to work out of a bases loaded jam and then Osuna smacked his two-run homer to take the lead right back in the bottom of the first.

Spokane would add to the lead when two throwing errors allowed shortstop Andres James to score in the third inning, making it 3-1 and then pitching staff for the Indians would take over the game.

Brigham went five innings, giving up only two hits with four strikeouts and picked up the win for Spokane.

Ryan Falcon picked up middle relief duties in the sixth inning, going with X, but ran into some trouble in the top of the eighth frame but righty Ryan Tatusko was able to come in and keep Eugene scoreless.

Chris Dennis picked up the save in the top of the ninth, after a double play by second baseman Andy Lawson and Osuna and then Eugene’s Justin Baum struck out swinging to end the game and ignite the crowd of 6,358 at Avista Stadium.
